If you regularly fall asleep while listening to podcasts and need a way to automatically turn off the podcast, there is a sleep timer built right into the Podcasts app. The podcast sleep timer is a nice feature and easy to use.

Podcast Sleep Timer on the iPhone
To set the podcast sleep timer, open the Podcasts app and select your preferred podcast. While the podcast is playing, tap the sleep timer icon in the bottom center of the window.
Select the interval you wish the podcast to play before turning off. Selecting “When Current Episode Ends” will stop playback after the current podcast episode ends.
You will be returned to the podcast Now Playing screen. Notice the sleep timer icon in the bottom center of the window now as shows the time remaining on the timer.
The sleep timer can be set while the podcast is playing or if it is paused. You can close the Podcasts app and use other apps while the sleep timer is running. It will not affect the timer. When the sleep timer ends, the podcast will stop playing.
Podcast Sleep Timer on the iPad
The podcast sleep timer on the iPad has a slightly different setup screen, but it is just as simple as the iPhone. Open the Podcasts app and select your preferred podcast. While the podcast is playing, tap the sleep timer icon in the bottom left corner of the window. A menu will appear for you to select the interval for the podcast to play before turning off.
After selecting a play interval, the menu will automatically close and the sleep timer icon will display the time remaining on the timer.
You can use other apps on the iPad, close the smart cover, or put the screen to sleep without affecting the podcast sleep timer.
