If You Dislike the New Safari Layout in iOS 15, Here’s How to Change it Back

If you’ve upgraded to iOS 15, you probably realized the search bar in Safari is now at the bottom of the screen. This change was made so the search bar would be easier to reach with one hand. This change is only for the iPhone, not the iPad.

Below is an example of how the search bar appears in iOS 15.

Luckily, if you don’t like this new layout, it’s easy to move the search bar back to the top of the screen where it has always been.

Go Back to the Old Safari Layout Prior to iOS 15

To move the Safari search bar back to the top of the screen, open the Settings app and scroll down to Safari.

Safari Settings

Scroll down to the Tabs section and select Single Tab instead of Tab Bar.

Single Tab

This will change Safari back to the old layout from before iOS 15 and put the search bar back at the top of the screen. You’ll be able to navigate Safari in almost the same way as before the software update, but it’s important to note that you’ll still see some differences in the tab functions.
